Ok, I'm trying to figure out what I just bought.....debating between DX or base model. It is a 1990 hb, doesn't have the DX logo on the hatch (or the rear wiper) It doesn't have the adjustable steering column or the rear cargo cover. However, it has a 5-spd tranny a d15b1 engine with dpfi, has a/c.....and that's about it. Now I've heard that the base model came without the cargo cover, rear wiper, movable steering column, but with a 4-spd and no a/c. ?????? Any ideas?? I'm assuming it is a base and someone must have swapped the tranny and maybe the a/c.

    thanks!!

Hey, uhh mine's a Std and it came with AC. You could get them with almost all of the DX stuff you just had to add it on as seperate options I believe. I'm pretty sure you couldn't get the 5-spd though. Does it have a radio, mine didn't but all the wiring was there. So I don't know maybe someone just swapped out the transmission. The four speed was actually a very reliable transmission, my dad rebuilds them for a living and he's only had one come in in about 15 years. But then again the Std. doesn't have much power. They probably just swapped the tranny because as much as Honda's cost to rebuild it's cheaper to get a junkyard unit as with most cars, hopefully you got a good one. AT least you got a five speed frown.

Yes it came with a radio, however, someone could have added it also. Hmm...yours came with a/c....so I guess std's also came with a/c option. What engine codes do you all have? Mine is a d15b1 which by what I hear is pretty rare, usually d15b2's and d15b6's are the common ones...

    thanks

I'll go check the engine code real quick, I haven't really ever looked. Sounds like you got the perfect car if you're planning on doing a swap or anything though.

I have an 89 DX and it has a D15B2.

And if it came with no wiper, was it "shaved", or was their still a nub.

Because my car when I got it (used of course) didn't have a rear wiper but it had the nub with a screw sticking out. I thought that was odd. But the rear squirter works so I assume it used to have a wiper.

But today in the mail I got my new arm and put a blade on so now I have one, too bad the motor doesn't work. biggrin

Blade looks nicer than a screw sticking out the back!
